As we mentioned above, the Dodge Hornet is introducing not one but two all-new engine options for drivers to experience! Whether you choose the R/T or the GT, you’ll be treated to one of these innovative powertrains. Under the hood of the GT, you’ll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 Hurricane engine. The Hurricane is designed to be more fuel-efficient than your typical gas-powered engine, while still delivering plenty of oomph! This engine is rated at 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. For the R/T, you’ll find a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. That’s right, the R/T trim of the Dodge Hornet is a plug-in hybrid! The motor is powered by a 15.5 kWh battery pack, and can provide you with up to 30 miles of all-electric range.
What Other Features does the 2023 Hornet Have?
The Dodge Hornet delivers a sleek yet sporty design, with features you might recognize from other vehicles in the Dodge family, paired with some new elements that feel unique to this model. The Hornet is a CUV, which stands for compact-utility vehicle. It’s smaller than a true SUV like the Dodge Durango, but still more robust-looking than a sedan like the Dodge Charger. The Hornet has an athletic stance, emphasized by its slim horizontal mail-slot opening on the front. This opening is highlighted by the Dodge Rhombii badge. Inside, the two trim levels both feature an elegant black upholstery, complete with a pop of red accent stitching. Other features of the Dodge Hornet include available red seatbelts, 20-inch wheels, or Alcantara suede upholstery. Plus, there’s also a 10.25 digital cluster display situated on the dashboard.
What are the Performance Features of the Dodge Hornet?
The Dodge Hornet has so much to offer when it comes to performance! As we mentioned above, the R/T trim is powered by both a gas engine, and an electric motor. It also has a new trick up its sleeve, known as the PowerShot button. With the simple press of this button, the R/T will instantly deliver a jolt of energy measuring 25 horsepower! With the help of the PowerShot, you can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 6.1 seconds. Speaking of the hybrid powertrain of the R/T, you’ll get to select one of three drive modes depending on how you want to utilize your energy. You can choose to run only on electric power for up to 30 miles, prioritize the gas tank first, or use both simultaneously! In terms of classic Dodge performance features, the Hornet also features Brembo performance brakes, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, paddle shifters, and more!
